Fay & Jon | Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield

Fay and Jon got married  on the bank holiday weekend of the 28th May. This is one of the most popular dates of the year for weddings and we are so glad we were booked with Fay for it! Fay is so lovely and such a sweetheart – we loved helping her get ready for such an exciting day.

We spent the morning helping Fay and her two bridesmaids get ready at her parent’s house. One of the bridesmaids was a big makeup fan and thought she had died and gone to heaven when she spotted the kit we would be using on them! The styling was uber simple and Fay opted for minimalist makeup with a beautiful dutch braided hairstyle, which we think complemented her dress fantastically.

The ladies eventually went off for the wedding at Yorkshire Sculpture park – an amazing choice for a venue, set in stunning grounds in West Yorkshire. We loved receiving the beautiful images from the photographer for the day – Arabella Smith.

We were also touched to receive this lovely review from Fay about her experiences of working with us on the day. Thank you Fay!

After many weeks of trying to find the right hair and makeup for my wedding and feeling that I didn’t fit in with anyone, my stars really did aligned when I came across Jenn and her team. It has been one of the most successful things I did for my wedding because hair and makeup it is so much more than just the outcome of your pictures. You want to feel relaxed and calm during the preparations (while having fun). You also want to feel comfortable, secure and pretty during the day, whilst remaining confident that everything will still look good at 2 in the morning!

As someone who does not really wear makeup and is limited in the hair department, I’ve always felt really intimated by hair/beauty salons in the past. However, there is nothing but happy, friendly, fun from Jenn and Natalie alongside a very professional service. I felt that we were in very ‘safe hands’.

For me the wedding did not start till 4 and I was worried that this was a big chunk of the day already gone. As it turned out I hugely enjoyed that part of the day with Jenn and Natalie. It really was a lot of fun and I have really lovely memories of us all giggling together.

One of my bridesmaids is very into all things makeup. She was so impressed and excited as Natalie had all the new exciting products from very high end makers. She loved getting to try all these new ranges and highly rates Natalie’s makeup selections and skills!
Equally, Jenn has the most amazing ability to make my thin and limp hair look voluminous and created a special ‘do’ that suited me and my dress perfectly. When I had no clear idea what I really wanted, Jenn was wonderful at visualising everyone’s wishes for their hair into a coordinated theme. It’s very hard to make what I wanted, which was a relaxed, almost ‘messy’ look fit for a wedding, but she certainly did an amazing job!

I also had a trial done with my mum a few months before and it was money well spent as that was so much fun!

In the end I felt exactly as I wanted on the day, which was exactly like myself but just a very good version of myself or as Barefoot Contessa would say- myself with the ‘volume turned up’!

My advice is don’t scrimp on hair and makeup –it’s surprisingly a big and important part of the day. If you like what images you see on the website, then go for it- you will not regret it and plus you get to meet two of the loveliest and talented people!
