Great British weather is so unpredictable and the forecasts are often wrong so, sometimes, you just have to seize the moment as it happens.

Hearing the rumours that snow was on its way got us all pretty excited at the studio and, when it did finally arrive, We threw together a few ideas for a snowy photo shoot, filled a hot water bottle and ventured out into the peaks.  Photographer Shelley Richmond has a queue of professional, and aspiring, models waiting to work with her which meant we were able to draft someone in, in the final hour.  We were incredibly lucky to have model Jenny join us.

Sharing a studio with the fabulous Tracey from Campbells flowers is just the best cause we are surrounded by gorgeous blooms every day.  Tracey, as busy as she was, kindly made us the most beautiful wintery bouquet and matching flower crown with flowers she had spare that day.

The makeup products I selected for this shoot had to offer longevity above all else to withstand the harsh elements.  Our Temptu airbrush never fails us!  For Jenny’s dark smokey eye we used Mac Pigments pot in ‘Blue Brown’ and we used ‘Urban Decay Primer Potion’ and a spritz of ‘Urban Decay De Slick’ setting spray to make it stay put.

To say this day was cold would be an understatement, our creative team, thus being Jenn, Shelly, and myself, were dressed for the occasion (although still felt the biting cold).  Jenny wore a tulle skirt and sequined crop top for the first part of the shoot and a floaty vintage wedding dress for the second part. Jenny was incredible, she lay in a bed of snow with chattering teeth only between shots.  We dived on her with a blanket at every opportunity.

There was a point in the day where we found ourselves trekking through some very frozen and snowy marshland which wasn’t ideal for a pair of satin heels.  There was only one thing for it – transport our lovely model by piggy back!

We really did have fun gooning around in the snow and, as cold as it was, it was sooooo worth it!  Hope you love these images as much as we do!
